Teaching Experience

History and Philosophy of Science

Lecturer
HPSC1001
2024
School of History and Philosophy of Science, USYD

  • As a lecturer I was responsible for syllabus design along with the planning and delivering of lectures.

  • You can find the complete and unedited set of anonymised student evaluations for this course here. Some highlights include:

    • Jules was really engaging lecturer and I think he is one of the best lecturers I've ever had. His enthusiastic nature brought out the best in learning a pretty philosophically difficult and varied course.

    • I really enjoyed the lectures. Jules is a great lecturer, he encourages questions and responds with supportive insight. He is enthusiastic, and humorous with clear elocution.

Tutor

HPSC3018, HPSC1001, HPSC1000, SCIE1001
2020 - Present
School of History and Philosophy of Science, USYD

  • As a tutor in various HPS courses, I led group and whole class discussions, created group exercises and marked assessments/essays.

Physics

Teaching Fellow
2022 - 2024
School of Physics, USYD

  • This position consisted of more back-end responsibility regarding course implementation. This involved creating and administering teaching and examination material in person and on Canvas. One example of this was re-writing all of the lab manuals for the semester to better align them with the lecture material.

Tutor
PHYS1001, PHYS1002, PHYS1003, PHYS1004
2019 - Present
School of Physics, USYD

  • As a tutor in various physics courses, I led group and whole class discussions, created group exercises, marked assessments and mentored other incoming tutors.

  • During my time as a senior tutor I developed a seminar activity for incoming first year undergraduates on the concept of Belonging in an academic environment. This kind of intervention has been shown to improve a variety of student outcomes, particularly among students from minority and marginalised groups. Those materials can be found here and here.
